Patriarchy Light
I have tried to emphasize in my writings that I am talking about the dark or shadow patriarchy when I mention the term. This dark patriarchy is the current American incarnation. Yet the question also arises, as it does here, is there a light, conscious, benevolent patriarchy in any parts of our lives as men. And how would this patriarchy light affect our lives for the good.

For those of us who experienced it in full flower, the Men's Movement was seminal to our finding solace for our selves in the middle of what was shaping up to be and has become, a war against maleness. I'm speaking in the past tense because, although the battle to denigrate and castrate males continues unabated legally, politically and emotionally, it and the Men's Movement don't play big in the media anymore. When the Movement was in the spotlight it was used mainly as a boys-will-be-boys fare and portrayed as silly, mindless play by men trying to return to Boy Scout camp or malign women or worse.

Dads were quieted by thousands of years of being selected based on their willingness to die on behalf of others, but not cry on behalf of themselves. Spies are taught to self-destruct before they self-reveal. All this makes for a pretty quiet revolution.
