Book of the Month... MARCH 2002 |
By Jed Diamond
"The Whole Man is for every man. It prepares him to interrupt the unconscious connection between his masculinity and his disposability via hard data and practical advice, by guidance that is both spiritual and inspirational. Jed Diamond's ability to be open about himself while listening to others allows The Whole Man to be rich with solutions to becoming a whole man."
--Warren Farrell, Ph.D., author of The Myth of Male Power

Book Excerpt... by Jed Diamond Introduction to The Whole Man Program I have written this book to show the importance of a specific health program for men and to give men specific guidance in using the program to stay healthy as we age. My 37 years of experience in the health field has convinced me that it is just as important that men have a health program that speaks to our needs as it is that women have a program that focuses on their unique health concerns.
Some people are afraid that an approach to health that takes into account the differences between men and women would lead toward inequality and poorer care for one sex. I don't believe that needs to be the case. Acknowledging the differences in our health needs, as well as the similarities, can go a long way toward ensuring that men and women are as healthy as it is possible for us to be. Go to Article

Curmudgeon Conflict
My favorite curmudgeon, Andy Rooney, mounted his horse a few Sundays ago and went after "patriotism" as manifested by the huge number of ads in print and television which use phrases like, "Let's roll!" and "Keep America Moving!" and so on. Being a natural curmudgeon myself, I usually sign on with Andy and even, when I'm in the mood to write one of those pieces, seem to turn on his voice inside my head as I write. But we part company on this particular issue. Not totally, but mostly. Go to Article Archive

JEFF'S LIFE... monthly column by Jeff Stimpson Toil and Trouble
We've discovered another nickname for Ned. "He's our Little Cauldron," Jill says.
Little Cauldron has a temper. I don't know where he got it (he got it from Jill), but he has a will that's prominent enough to render laughable my boss's advice just before he was born, advice that the secret to having two children is remembering that they each have their own personality. THE NEW INTIMACY... monthly column by Judith Sherven, Ph.D. and James Sniechowski, Ph.D.
Love From the Inside Out
Most of us marry. But all too often divorce is the outcome. Why? Because we haven't been available for the love we say we want.
Ask yourself: Have you earned the privilege of being in a truly loving and romantic relationship? Have you given yourself to the process of co-creating success? Go to Article
