Ten Things I Learned from Bill Porter
by
Shelly Brady, William H. Macy
"Bill Porter worked for the
Watkins Corp., selling household products door-to-door in one of
Portland’s worst neighborhoods. Afflicted with cerebral palsy and
burdened with continual pain, Porter was determined not to live on
government disability and went on to become Watkins’s top-grossing
salesman in Portland, the Northwest, and the U.S. Mr. Porter was
profiled in a piece on 20/20 and his amazing story is the basis for
a made for T.V. movie starring William H. Macy that aired July 14th
on TNT."

National Guardsmen and cops kept people moving. Nobody spoke much.
Workers had spray-painted WEAR YOUR BREATHING MASKS! on one of the
buildings abandoned nearby. I had no breathing mask, and the place
smelled dirty and cold. Somebody said it smelled like lost souls.

COYOTE...
monthly column by Dick Prosapio
Of Mice and Me
I once used to invite people to my
home in Chicago to; "Listen to some sounds." Now that I'm living in
New Mexico I invite people over to see my pump house. A pump house out
here is NOT a franchised version of a Loop bar. It is just what it
sounds like, a place wherein a (water) pump sits. Actually, "resides"
is more like it.

The Unexpected
Sad to say, many of us were raised
to create marriages and family life in a well regulated and
predictable fashion. And then, lo and behold, life seems boring and
tedious.
